Student First

This year I have a new partner teacher. I am so excited to try a new style of teaching with student first lessons. Our curriculum from two separate textbook companies suggest the typical format of "I do, we do, you do" but our education classes all suggested student first education.

This new style provides a lot more time for students to think about and engage with mathematical content, then the teachers roll is lead discussions, fill in learning gaps, clean up and misconceptions, and provide correct examples.

The biggest challenges that I forsee are trying in to get the same amount of content in the time allotted, allowing productive struggle to happen, and creating enough resources for students to have guidance but not answers provided.

I am most excited for working with a format that creates more independent thinkers and that creates authentic ways for my students to engage with each other. I'm also excited for the new note taking process where we take notes at the end of a learning segment. I'm hoping this makes it to where my students are able to be more interactive during note taking.

Logged below are my weekly reflections on this process. Included in these reflections will be any TPT products I used as a part of my weekly lessons.
